The guy in the illustration is kind of bottom heavy.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Tell me some of the spooky/paranormal/unexplained shit that's happened to you?
7·3 months agoSome sort of sleep paralysis maybe? Some people hear noises and/or experience strange bodily sensations during them, I believe. Quite normal, albeit unpleasant.

Europe@lemmy.ml•Europe Supplies Ukraine With Weapons That Kill Russian Civilians - Finnish Politician
1·4 months agoHaving looked into this. This guy is armenian-italian living in Finland (I’m unable to find out if he has finnish citizenship). He is a politician solely in the imagination of russian media. He doesn’t sit in any of the political organs in Finland.
The party has 0/200 seats in the finnish parliament, 0/15 seats in european parliament, 0/8586 seats in municipalities and 0/1379 seats in counties.
More correct depiction of this clown would be a Russian Troll.

3·4 months agoAs a Finn, I have never in my life heard of a politician called Armando Mema.
–Edit–
Also never heard of Freedom Alliance Party.
Never. Nor will I ever do anything like that.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there any phones or tablets out there that can run on the charger cable only, completely missing the battery?
1·4 months agoI’m pretty sure I’ve tried several that work fine with the battery on, but it doesn’t hurt to do some more testing. I’d like it to be my kitchen timer/calculator/recipe book that I could maybe frame nicely and put on my kitchen wall.

World News@lemmy.ml•Zelenskyy issued a decree allowing a parade in Moscow on May 9, 2026 on humanitarian grounds discussed with the US. During the event, Red Square is excluded from Ukrainian weapons targeting
4·4 months agoYou did not “make it accurate”, you simply twisted my words based on your own imagination. Unless you’re willing to behave like an actual adult, I have nothing more to say to you.

World News@lemmy.ml•Zelenskyy issued a decree allowing a parade in Moscow on May 9, 2026 on humanitarian grounds discussed with the US. During the event, Red Square is excluded from Ukrainian weapons targeting
3·4 months agoIt’s dishonest because that was not what was said. The wording was “parade full of civilians”. This is a military parade with most likely zero civilian participants, albeit there are civilians watching it.
For reference, parade full of civilians:

Not a parade full of civilians:

Notice the difference?

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Study shows that people who are blind from birth don't develop schizophrenia.
11·4 months agoCool! Now all we need to do is make every newborn blind and there’ll be no more schizophrenia. I mean in some barbarian countries cutting parts out of babies is a common practice in the name of “hygiene” anyway.

Need i really add /s ?

World News@lemmy.ml•Zelenskyy issued a decree allowing a parade in Moscow on May 9, 2026 on humanitarian grounds discussed with the US. During the event, Red Square is excluded from Ukrainian weapons targeting
14·4 months agoNah, I think this is just showing middle finger to Putin. Reflecting a desire to show who really decides if there is to be a parade in Moscow.
I mean a strike would probably be very unlikely anyway. The reason it’s been said out loud is far more interesting.
Consensus among international human rights organizations seems to be that Ukrainian strikes on Russia have been limited in scope and while they have certainly caused civilian harm, Ukraine isn’t known to directly target Russian citizens. Russia on the other hand is systematically and directly targetting Ukrainian citizens and strikes on Ukraine have caused significantly higher civilian casualties.
Also worth noting is that it is a military parade, albeit with civilians following it. Masking it as “a parade full of civilians celebrating the defeat of fascism” is dishonest. In reality it’s a pompous display of killing tools. I guess it needed to be said that this particular military parade will not be attacked.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Why does songs from non-English countries have random English words? Can you imagine if English songs randomly have Chinese words?
4·4 months agoNot just songs. F***ing english “sprinkles” are everywhere and it’s annoying beyond words. “Myllärin by Helsingin mylly”. 11 cases out of 10 it sounds imbecile, not cool.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The only time you ever actually "take a poop" is when you fly on an airplane, or ride on a ship.
3·4 months agoUnrelated somewhat, but one similar swedish expression is “ta en titt” (literally “take a look”, not “grab a boob”). But then the swedes also have “Slutstation” (“End station” in public traffic) and “Utfart” (“drive out”).

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK you can fold fitted sheets neatly (guide by ratfactor)
1·4 months agoI hate fitted sheets. They’re ugly, impractical and always wrinkled. They never feel properly cleaned and always look untidy, even straight from the wash. Generally a horrible invention. My preferred way to store them is in a dumpster burned to cinder.
Well you know, people have varying preferences when it comes to bikes. I’m very much in the “simple always works” camp.
Do you think it might be Dutch?
My bike when I lived in the Netherlands was somewhat more scary. It was a rattly old thing with poor brakes. Almost rode it into Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal once by accident.
