Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Can Anubis and Iocane be linked?English
12·19 days agoThis may sound like a weird thing to do, but I realised that many crawlers and golems are somehow still able to get past my Anubis. I presume they have gotten smarter and are capable of using Runes.
To counter this, I want to ethereally link my Anubis to an locane setup such that:
Ether > mage tower > Anubis >Iocane > my orb
My hope is that two different filtering mechanisms one of which will actively poison and waste the golem’s energy) will protect my realm better.
I thought I’d ask before actually trying out something like this.

Programming@programming.dev•Do you ever miss important client messages because everything’s scattered?
1·1 month agoI am extremely uninformed but here’s what I found for slack
https://help.beeper.com/en_US/chat-networks/slack
https://github.com/beeper/slackgo
It appears based on the 2nd link that slack may have an API.

Programming@programming.dev•Do you ever miss important client messages because everything’s scattered?
1·1 month agoI actually haven’t used beeper in ages. I don’t use many of the chat apps with official bridges other than signal and discord, and Instagram (when I had it) hated that I was bridged and threatened to ban me. Since I’m on iPhone open bubbles bridge isn’t worth setting up for me so I’m not gonna bridge iMessage either. Best of luck with chat and beeper though !! :)

2·1 month agoLike any matrix client, it uses their e2ee before hitting the matrix home server.

8·1 month agoMatrix client that lets you bridge a variety of chat apps. I imagine you’re using slack and at least one of the other messaging apps they support

Privacy@lemmy.ml•How much proof is there that smart tvs and phones listen to you?
20·1 month agohttps://www.howtogeek.com/you-can-still-buy-a-dumb-tv-but-should-you/ This article outlines the situation really well. your two options to not be spied on out of the box are to buy a terrible TV or to buy a commercial one. They dont make “dumb tvs” anymore. I wonder if theres a way to implement one’s own firmware n all that to turn a nice samsung into something more private.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Which Firefox alternative do you guys recommend?
2·1 month agoKinda depends on your preference. A lot of people are proponents for librewolf, but it hasn’t been great for me in the past. Privacy is probably top notch, but I have zen browser a try and I’m not hating it. Could also be a move for you.

I feel like an absolute idiot for ever being anti-laptop. I got a framework and my PC immediately became a server. One of the best investments I have ever made.
