Yeah the crazy thing is that most people were using ADSL connections directly from their computer, without a router.

Raw dogging the internet with no firewall, that was wild.

And that pic is with the classic (Office 97-style) interface.

You can also switch to a more modern style, called “Notebook bar”, which is similar to the Ribbon interface you can find on Office 2007+.

(Honestly? In my opinion, the classic interface is the best)

Yes, LibreOffice uses its own custom rendering engine and that’s not the most performant…

But you have to understand that before LibreOffice there was OpenOffice.org, which itself comes from an old German application called StarOffice.

And oh boy, StarOffice! It was quite peculiar: it used to render its own desktop environment that took over Windows Explorer, with its own Start menu!

So, let’s all remember that LibreOffice still has that legacy to carry on.

Exactly, they don’t care about users, they just care about money.

Examples? See what they’re doing with Gemini. Even Pro (paying) users will be downgraded to Gemini Flash in less than one month.

Not crash them, but they’ll probably need to make Gmail/Outlook into a paid service in order to cover all the costs.

Google Ads is slowly dying, because people just ask AI instead of searching and navigating websites, and that was Google’s biggest revenue.

It depends. Some hotels have shareable rooms with doors between them that they can open if a big group is renting contiguous rooms. That’s always been nice in my experience.

Exactly. Finally some sane choices by Airbnb.

But I wonder what’s the real reason, because no company is so nice towards final customers. Maybe Airbnb saw a decrease on booking on their platform because people are rightly fed up with that bullshit and they just prefer hotels.

So that’s why hard disks are so expensive now…

Yeah, I’ve recently watched Smarter Every Day’s videos on YouTube about completely building a scrubber in the US. It was almost impossible and in the end he had to build a part in Canada.

I think all the problems he highlights in the videos are the same in Europe. We simply don’t have the tools and the knowledge required to manufacture products anymore.

YES! I want it. A way to get Canada closer to Europe… in preparation for them to join Schengen and the EEA

That’s just traffic with extra steps

Also, “normal” people (i.e. not activists) are more afraid of taking a bike if there’s not bike path. So they end up clogging traffic even more by going by car.

I think we’re getting close to a pop.

Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Especially after they lobbied/bribed the ISO committee into approving the broken and closed-source OOXML as if it was an open standard

At first I thought you meant that “the Orange” (i.e. Donald) made the correct decision into ruining the US so much that the Dutch autorithies decided to ditch Office. lol

Your suggestion makes perfect sense. Let’s delve into it –

Fandom is pure evil. We should all get rid of it.

And for the bank, you can always switch to a better bank.

It depends.

Italy has Bancomat cards, Denmark has Dankort, etc. I can totally see the system being integrated with cards that possibly don’t have any MasterCard/Visa integration at all.
