By true android desktop I mean it would let you download linux apps and run them. It’s a faked mobile experience in dex right now and that seems to be the initial direction they are going with android desktop, still not terrible, but not a pc experience. This isn’t about buying hardware, this is about letting people use the hardware they already have, building on the personal computer in your pocket aspect.

Some people seem to be confused thinking i’m implying the current form of android desktop. I’m saying its possible they shift towards it being a proper desktop experience instead of just mobile apps reframed. Phones have the capabilities to be the personal computer for most ppl and a lot of ppl can only afford one device. Most of the world has a phone no pc, now if android could give all those ppl access to a pc, all they need is the phone they already have plus a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, that would give ppl a strong incentive to stay with and stick to android, since its not just their phone, its their pc now, its their whole life.

I used to spend all day daydreaming about ai in class back in middleschool/highschool, magic leap had me thinking we were days away from virtual cod/harry potter dueling, real life yugioh, pokemon go had me thinking glasses were a year away lol. I’ve just needed to give up on AR for my own sanity, It’s the one thing that feels magical when it comes to tech still and gets me delusional/overhyped. Reality would just be ads everywhere.

idk physical drives have gotten real cheap and plentiful, but I do trust the cloud more than myself and thats always getting cheaper

I could see that happening forsure, maybe virtual pets, desktop buddies making a comeback could be cool

if you have one device they could just sell you infinite subs to upgrade it, instead of hardware you rent hardware over your high speed internet, offloading resources, like video editors where rendering takes place in the cloud with that feature built in being served by google not a third party

linux is getting a push due to windows becoming more and more abusive with how they force you to use a certain ui filled with ads and ai bs

Kinda wish we had a torn like lemmy (im very late to discovering that game lol), some of its features are appealing, think itd be fun to gamify social media, like temp bans put users in jail and you could see all the users in jail currently (get real extra with it and let ppl vouch for ppl tying their account status to theirs for the remaining duration of the ban in case of new infractions and bail them out)

Piefed already does trust value, having different tags at different values that could be customized per instance could be fun. Like 10% troll - 100% saint on one.

Be a fun way to use a point type system on purely meaningless stuff, I do like that there is no realworld value at all in that game (bannable), just a fun little dopamine hit of numbers and images. Encourage donations through that.
