  • This is yet another reason why critical IT shit should be open source whenever possible. Are you paying your staff to fix shit or deal with telemarketers pretending they know what the fuck they are talking about? Just toss that into the pile.

Where I used to work, incoming sales calls from these guys were transferred to an endless phone tree. “Oh, you want to talk to (I forget what department name we gave the black hole). Here I’ll get you over to them.” They would be sent in an endless phone tree that never went to a human. It just never ended. We were a ringcentral shop and my boss was a master with the phone traps.

On a side note: did you know rust desk is free and does all you actually need it to do?

  • I have a family plan with T-Mobile for years with friends and a family member on it. T-Mobile had a price lock guarantee on it. They raised the prices anyway. When I called about it they told me they made that promise 11 years ago so it doesn’t count. I told the lady on the phone “I pay you X dollars a month so me and my friends can look at porn and cat videos on skinner boxes.” I’m still looking for somewhere to jump ship to. Mint mobile looks like an option but they are owned by T-Mobile so I dunno if that’s really an option.

  • I finally made the switch to a credit union. I had them for years for my car loans, but never really bothered using them for my primary checking account. After some recent terrible calls to Huntington bank, I decided to just move everything over to my credit union and close the bank account.

So far it’s much better. The rates are better. The customer service is better trained and understands what I’m trying to say (as well as english.) The website and app are far better. There’s also a recession coming and I felt it was better to use a credit union than a bank anyway.

I have been wanting to do this for a while and just never made a priority of it until after my last few calls I had to Huntington and that just signaled it was time to leave.

  • Tampermonkey is a Firefox extension that can run scripts to interact with web pages. It’s great for bulk operations like mass deletes.

Reddit is intentionally holding onto my data. The are intentionally trying to keep it even though accounts go away. Since I’m an American in a red state there’s only so much I can do about this. But Reddit’s intentionally preventing my data from being deleted. This is intended behavior by their site.

  • I miss what Reddit used to be. It was great. But in the end it was just so so so bad. Some of the subreddit were as bad as kiwifarms, and others were terrified of becoming like that so they overcorrected and it became a platform of extremes.

Facebook is a right wing cesspool. It doesn’t matter what you set your preferences to, you are getting right wing propaganda and you are going to like it. I killed that account.

Honestly, even running away from for profit operations might not be enough soon. We’ll all be on fucking ramble using i2p soon enough.

  • I’ve been working to delete all my stuff on a banned Reddit account before I delete it. Most of my accounts are done except for two. One I can’t get into for some reason. The other is my main and it keeps lying about or hiding my posts so I can’t get to all of them and delete them. I have tampermonkey scripts that have been running for days and there’s STILL shit that keeps reappearing after reddit pretends to delete it.

You don’t get to keep my content AND ban me from using your platform. I’ll just keep whacking away at it until it’s dead but fuck it’s this a needlessly complicated pain in the ass.
