why would you compare the two? seinfeld is actually funny because it’s universal social observation. it’s a streetwise comedy of manners like curb your enthusiasm.

we’ve all been george when he leaves a dumb message on an answering machine and then stresses over it; we’ve all had touchy friends or acquaintances who cut ties for some petty reason. it’s often exaggerated, but it’s human and relatable.

i wouldn’t just question the taste of someone who doesn’t like seinfeld but i’d question how much awareness they have about everything going on around them.

some jokey sitcoms still hit–frasier and golden girls are witty. but most aren’t funny anymore and they weren’t all that funny in their day.

  • the middle class are the people who lived in all those american suburbs built in the 50s and 60s; those small, 2 or 3 bedroom houses with drab siding or brick facades that are an overrepresentation of the american landscape and lifestyle, despite the fact you’ve rarely ever seen one in a TV show or film. these homes were affordable to the average worker but now aren’t; those are the homes of the 90%, the actual hard-working american population–the ‘middle class.’

this isn’t that difficult of a concept.

the reddit forum design seems to inherently encourage nerd bullshit. tell me more about the dictionary definition of this or that.

  • i notice this issue whenever i watch new films–everything looks so sterile and uninviting. culture has taken on this showroom/instagram aesthetic that gestures to class but has no character, taste and doesn’t look like anywhere where anyone would actually live; it’s nowhere where anyone sensible would want to live, at least.

calling it minimalistic is disrespectful because that word and style aren’t mutually exclusive.

  • how is a pimp different than any other capitalist?

how come when it comes to the issue of sex everyone all of a sudden takes offense to someone taking a cut off the top?

aren’t car dealers pimps? aren’t they just car traffickers? isn’t mcdonalds a meat trafficker?

another question: why are women so feeble that a dude can show up at their door in a fur coat and a fedora and be like ‘you’re gonna fuck random dudes and i’m gonna take all the money’ and they’re like ‘ok.’

nowhere in culture do we consider this OK behavior so there’s no excuse for it. when men are down and out they suck down steel reserves and live in the park like normal people.

we need to talk about this.

  • men pay attention to women they get roasted; men ignore women and they get roasted.

it’s almost like there’s a battle of the sexes going on that’s tipped one way because nobody dares speak out on the men’s side because they’ll get labeled an incel or ‘part of the problem.’

neither of those women are worth paying attention to.

  • i’ve never been terrified of anything, except a fox. i watched that episode of x-files that featured the chupacabra and then encountered a fox out in the wild–you can imagine this loss of suburban innocence if you think hard about it and use your imagination. now, a typical fox looks nothing like a mexican goatsucker (maybe if it was bulked up with cans of goya black beans and had bigger teeth) but it put the scare into me because i had only encountered the occasional groundhog and stray cat at night; back then you didn’t see too many bums around.

one of those stray cats used to come around a lot and i named it ‘sugar’ because it was stark white and that song fly was on the radio a lot, the one by that band sugar ray. and after it hung around for awhile (i would leave out bush’s baked beans in a tupperware container because i felt bad) it became part of the family. i renamed it ‘yeti’ because i thought sugar was too homoerotic but that’s for another post.

  • not a leftist or a tankie but america has probably caused more distress to immigrant women in the last year than north korea has caused in its entire existence.

think of the pain of every immigrant wife/mother/daughter in america as either they or their loved ones have been hauled away to who knows where.

really weird pearl clutching going on here.
