Originally built in 7th/8th century and fortified later, it lies near the Indian city of Varanasi. An important Buddhist site.

Hmm, kinda reminds me of various places Buddha was depicted as lecturing from in Tezuka’s graphic novel of the same name.

I think this was the place where Buddha first met his original disciples. This place was given a facelift later around 16th century.
