Interesting the divide here between who think soundtrack is orchestral music composed for the movie and others who think its a bunch of pop songs the director liked.
I think part of the issue is that fewer movies and tv shows use licensed music anymore so most music in movies its just the score now. I blame it on streaming as it eats into profits, as can be seen by things like scrubs reruns not using the original music from the episodes.
Now that you mention it, that is part of why I found Deadpool and Wolverine to be so enjoyable. I know that other MCU movies also license music for their bigger productions, but Deadpool and Wolverine was over-the-top about it.
Damn. I would watch that again right now if I hadn’t decided to cancel Disney quite a while ago.
