I have heard that movie theaters make most of their money from their concession stands, and that the ticket sales largely go to the movie distributors.
Not to defend Ticketmaster/Live Nation, as they still suck in other ways, but artists/artist management sets the ticket prices and receives the majority of it. Venues don’t make nearly as much from ticket sales, including Live Nation themselves which own multiple large venues. Ticketmaster would rather take the blame for high ticket prices than the artist to direct anger in the direction that keeps making money.

So, their business model is marking up popcorn.
Husband was a manager at a movie theater, he told me this is exactly why concessions are so expensive.
Same model applies to concert venues. Most of the ticket money goes to the artist
Haven’t I heard artists complain that the ticket sales monopolies like Ticket Master suck up a lot of the money from ticket sales? Was that bad info?

OK but what if I hate corporations and want them to burn?
I imagine you’d only go to local movie theaters that show indie movies, then?
