Nah, I’m GenX, my mom had a pension, and was able to retire after raising 4 kids, 3 of them after my dad died (she kicked me out pretty fast).
I also had lots of kids (so better off in that way than the next generation) but because of that, can’t really hope to retire.
Most of our kids are doing a lot better than we were at their age, the ones doing worse are more or less in the same economic situation I was, without the added step of having to claw up from homelessness, BUT I agree with whoever said old people were “able to participate” more - I felt more like if I sold out I could be well off, without ripping anyone off. Not as trapped as I think kids can feel now. The obscenely rich flaunting their wealth is so bad for society, they really are the worst people.
