If I was told that I’d come back to earth to be reincarnated as another human being with choices. I would like the following;

To be a woman. To be non-binary, still. To still remain a ‘gray world resident’. To retain my ability to not cave to FOMO and be resourceful. There’s a hundred of other things but in terms of core ones, those are the few.

I would want to retain the lottery numbers for the last 5 big lottery draws and then spend the early part of my newly incarnated life wondering how I could’ve been so stupid.

likely retaining all the knowledge you gained before you died, would be enough to fast track you through school and not make the same mistakes you did in a previous life, no need to complicate yourself. and you can avoid all the dysfunction you get from your family/relatives when they start nagging at you.

Depending how vague/specific a concept could be, I’d prefer the wisdom over the knowledge. Could argue they’re the same thing

Wisdom is derived from knowledge, but they don’t equal each other.

“Your friends and family are the most important thing” is a wisdom someone may believe, and that wisdom was formed from the accumulated outcomes of many different life experiences.

But we can still retain the wisdom, even if we forget the knowledge - in fact that’s a normal part of growing older. We forget the exact events, but we remember the lessons we took from them.

I enjoy being a woman, able bodied, relatively smart.

But honestly, I guess I’d roll the dice & take what I get.

Sometimes I think the only literally fair system is if everyone has to be everyone eventually. Be all the people you hate, all the people you look down on or ignore.

I’m sorry because this is gonna sound terrible, but it’s an acknowledgment of the way things are rather than the way I think things ought to be: being male. Women a treated horribly.

If your answer is not to liberate everyone from samsara even if it means delaying yourself then your answer is the wrong one.

Here’s your daily dose of cosmic horror.

You in fact do retain all your memories when you reincarnate. But you’re born into a body you’re incapable of using. You can’t move your limbs. You can’t even see initially. You can’t speak. Imagine being shoved into a Matrix-style fully immersive simulation, except the simulation feeds you only unending static to all of your senses. And there is no way out. This is why babies scream.

By the time the months necessary to have any level of coherent thought have passed, your old mind is completely shattered. Your old memories are gone. Maybe some vague echoes of your old personality remain, but it is in fact a mercy that we do not remember our own infancy…

Nope. won’t work. You’re born with working eyes, ears, muscles, etc. Your brain however has to go through a months- and years-long training process to learn how to interpret the signals it’s receiving and how to send out impulses to control the body’s muscles. There’s no way to do that but the hard way. You can’t skip learning to ride a bike by inducing a medical coma. No different with learning how to master your own body.

What is a grey world resident?

I would of course choose to keep all my memories/cognition starting as a baby. Anime isekai has demonstrated that is more than enough to get a HUGE head start in life.

Maybe keep my old body? Its definitely not perfect: flat footed, need glasses, skin cancer likely, dementia is a maybe, etc. But at the same time, a lot of other people have it worse so I would be re rolling the die on that one, which could end up MUCH worse for me.

Someone who lives in the gray perspective than just simply black and white. It gives someone like me, the ability to see situations and perspectives of others in different angles. There are a lot of situations, beliefs, worldviews, point of views .etc that can be complicated to understand and simply aren’t always black and white.

A lot of people in society live in black and white. It is either this or that, no room for an in-between. I would hate to be someone who can only see one lane or the other land. For I believe being in the gray, gives you a greater sense of the world and society abroad.

That’s why I am often always saying things “that’s the reason” or “that’s why” or so. Because there can be multiple reasons and whys than just this or that.

I think that’s just normal human behavior… people who see the world in black and white have usually been radicalized at some point

In your new life, when you’re around 6 or 7 years old, one day you begin to wonder about that shrivelled, walnut-like thing your parents have in a jar.

Eventually you find out it’s a human brain. They got it years ago when they met in med school - they met when they worked on the same cadaver in a lab. You have no way of knowing it, but that brain was yours in a past life. Eventually you go to medical school yourself, and you take the jar with you.

I would want to keep the lessons I’ve learned, my morality, and my stock of crystalline knowledge and skills, but I guess it would be a good thing if I could forget the majority of my life, so that things like rereading books that I’ve read in the past, or watching TV shows that I’ve seen before, would be a thing that I could enjoy.

It would also be cool if I could be born again in a scenario that would allow me to re-meet the better people I’ve met in this life and grow up around them and have more time with them.

Why is that? If it’s just idealizing the platonic concept of life in France, you run the risk of being acquainted with Paris Syndrome, but it becomes your entire life rather than just one vacation.

It’s more because they have a lot of sensible laws and protections not present in the US. I have been to france multiple times and the last trip was mostly not in paris but rather largely southern france. Not only is the vacation experience good there, they actually do seem to have a better quality of life. I would never want to live in Paris btw.

    I would politely decline.

Unless I’m being born into a world where I don’t have to feasibly spend half my life working (at best), I’m not interested. I would time travel back and prevent my own birth if I could, and my life kicks ass.
