When they say ā€˜martial law’ what they mean is a coup. That’s what it would entail. They are demanding that our republic be dissolved and a fascist dictatorship be put in its place. Don’t let conservatives slide on this. They are enemies of democracy and need to be called out for it.

    1. ICE at polling places
    2. Lost ballot boxes
    3. Elon
    4. Postal shenanigans
    5. Republicans lose house and senate convincingly
    6. Lots of legal challenges
    7. House and Senate just don’t acknowledge newly elected reps, delay, et cetera
    8. Lots of legal challenges that proceed very slowly
    9. Impeachment
    10. Martial law
    11. Lots more legal challenges
    12. Nothing changes.

I wish you luck Americans but as a nation you’ve demonstrated that you’re unable to respond to this challenge.

Lol, the house and Senate don’t get to refuse anything. The states send their representatives to Congress and they became the new Congress in January. This isn’t a special election.

They’re going to win control of at least the house, and from then on Trump will be a lame duck president. Any play at martial law won’t work and will just make Trump look like even more of a pathetic joke, they would need many millions of people in the army to actually enforce it and they don’t have anywhere near that.

So tired of the uneducated doomer shit on this site.

Another random rule that is ā€œdiscoveredā€ that only non MAGAs have to follow. Maybe educate yourself.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has the unilateral legal authority to fire the Clerk of the House and appoint an acting replacement before the 120th Congress convenes on January 3, 2027. Retired federal judge J. Michael Luttig and other legal analysts warn that Johnson could install a partisan loyalist who refuses to place certified Democratic members-elect on the official roll, thereby preventing them from voting for Speaker and effectively blocking a Democratic majority.

It’s true. Since being in he hasn’t been able to do ANYTHING without passing bills through Congress…

The end of his first term shows what will happen (except now it will be worse since he is on tilt)

Even with Democrats controlling the House, Donald Trump retained several significant unilateral powers in the second half of his first term (2019–2021):

Executive orders and memoranda – He directed the executive branch without congressional approval. In fact, he increased his use of executive orders and unpublished memoranda once facing a hostile House, particularly on immigration policy. Appointments – He nominated federal judges, Supreme Court justices, and executive-branch officials (subject to Senate confirmation, which Republicans controlled). Most notably, he nominated Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court in 2020. Pardons – The pardon power is entirely independent of Congress and cannot be overridden. Foreign policy and military command – He could make executive agreements (no Senate ratification needed), direct military operations, and set diplomatic policy. Veto – He will still block legislation Enforcement discretion – He will direct how federal agencies prioritize and implement existing laws.

The only good news is that a lot of us have thought this was happening before now. Su they might not pull it off this time either.

And some progressive candidates are making progress.

It’s very bleak. But it has been bleak for longer than much of the world noticed. So far we’ve survived albeit not without many losses and setbacks.

Their lack of ability and understanding are their only redeeming qualities.

But this is all just to set up for 2028, and a dry run. Not for the president of course he doesn’t care about anything outside himself, but for the party, it is.

If they control one house of congress, they can refuse to recognize results and fillibuster it until it gets thrown to the States, where every state gets one vote, and they control over 30 of them.

That is one of many cheats they are planning, last resort kind of one. I suspect they are going to try and electronically cheat at vote totals, given that they got the inner workings of all the voting machines in swing states from pillow infomercial douche’s group he set up, getting hard drives from states like michigan, arizona, colorodo, and everywhere else. It all varies by state, but I suspect they’ve been cheating as such since 2016 when the poll numbers were so offset from the actual results.

I’d like to see some exit polling to confirm because that is traditionally the most accurate.

WHEN he does this, Kash Patel and the FBI won’t do anything but HELP HIM. WHEN he does this, TOM Homan and the DHS won’t do anything but HELP HIM. WHEN he does this, Todd Blanche and the DOJ won’t do anything but HELP HIM. WHEN he does this, Pete Hegseth and the Military won’t do anything but HELP HIM. WHEN he does this, John Roberts and his SCOTUS won’t do anything but HELP HIM.

When Democrats get in, if Mike Johnson allows it, they might be able to impeach some of them and then trump will install an ā€œinterimā€ appointee that will be no different.

What self reflection do you do when you realize that the opposition party that you shill for STRUGGLES to defeat the most obvious and disgusting populations in our country.

What self reflection do you do when you look back at the last forty years and try to tell someone what they GAINED by voting for your neoliberal (opposition).

What self reflection do you do when you say something so stupid as above and all of the leaders of the party that YOU SHILL FOR haven’t done anything to stop any of this? They don’t even focus on the worst aspects and share the same donors. Is Peter Thiel less evil now that he supports Dems instead of MAGA? So now we support Peter Thiel?

What self reflection do you do when the party you shill for can only come up with a pathetic ā€œfirst 100 day planā€ a couple weeks before midterms when we should have something like ā€œProject 2028ā€ that should be a published roadmap of everything that they are going to implement and everyone that they are going to imprison.

Instead, the people you shill for while shitting on the American people, are ā€œcommitted to oversightā€ and going to ā€œrestore affordable care act tax creditsā€

No one should support any of this until the Dems get rid of AIPAC and change leadership.

Everyone always accused me of being an election bot so I will even give some neolibs some credit. Ossof and Tallarico are awesome and know how to speak to MAGA filth and are promising. David Hogg was a good DNC chair that wanted the party to change direction and they got rid of him with a quickness. So without a change in leadership and committee appointments, just prepare to watch more capitalist elbow bumps after their WWE fights while we get NOTHING

So because the choices are evil or useless, you say nothing is preferable which ultimately gives evil the victory.

Dems suck. They have my whole life.

Republicans vary from stupid to straight up evil.

In a choice between ā€œsucksā€ and ā€œevil,ā€ I know which I choose every time. In case it isn’t clear to you, I am of the firm stance that something that sucks can be tolerated or even turned into something beneficial in the long run. Evil is just evil and has no place in society.

ā€œDon’t support the demsā€ hands Republicans everything they want.

I wish the blues had a spine or even a real platform from which to launch anything sensible. At least with Obama he made healthcare his platform, and he was so adamant about it that even the Republicans had to deal with it. Was it a stunning success? No, because it was shot full of holes in congress and crippled before it ever got off the ground by the original McConnell group. Obama was not at all representative of my beliefs in most of the rest of his actions, but the man did his best to effect positive change. Nobody else has done that or anything close since, and prior to that we have to go all the way back to the Depression and public works programs to find anything similarly beneficial to the public. Oh, and Social Security. Which has been gutted by - wait for it - Republicans.

Dems are responsible for allowing the overton window to shift so far right and they are rightfully vilified by actual lefties for it.

They’re still better than the alternative.

And DSA is the first incremental step back towards that. You form a third party and see how far you get without Citizens United money.

It is a horseshit sandwich, but it’s what we’ve got right now. Perfect can’t be the enemy of good, especially right now.

Enemy of my enemy and all, nahmean?

Edit: more accurately, the more we can do to frustrate the actual evil, the more time we ultimately have to find the real solution. Again, it isn’t perfect, but its the solution we currently have.
