cross-posted from: https://sh.itjust.works/post/57872518

backstory is that i try to fill up my tank more when gas prices are at a low and less as prices go up to make my long term average cost per gallon lower.

now given current events, and empirical reality, gas has only been going up and will continue to go up. we could assume different curves(only constraint being that price per gallon goes up as time goes forward), but if you buy your gas now you will spend less money then you have if you bought it tomorrow, day after, or week down the road. my estimate is that it will be month minimum before it gets cheaper.

now that I have put this out there into the world you should fill up asap, I already filled up before making this post and other people will come up with this idea independently of me.

The reason why I’m cross posting here is because my advice will trigger acceleration in increasing gas prices and I view that as a means to spite trump and put pressure on him by effectively by people not in politics. Lemmy users are getting mad at me for telling others to buy gas as soon and as much as possible to save money

Seems boring dystopia to me and I’m helping to remove the crust off a shit sandwich

I have a big diesel 4wd. When the US first bombed I filled it and my 2 jerrycans with diesel and stabil and it hasn’t moved since. That’s my ticket to get far away if shit gets bad enough.

My other car is a small petrol SUV. I never let it get below half before, now I don’t let it get below three quarters full.

I figured people came up a form of this idea well before me and didn’t blab about it like me. It’s smart of you to get what you need for a good price given how gas prices are increasing.

It seems that people realize that they need to shut me up about my “buy now, buy often” strategy and they’re legit trying to shame me. Personal I think they should get the mods to permanently ban my account and contact my instance administrator to delete my account.

To suppress me as much as possible of course

Last time I filled up on diesel was for 25.53 SEK/liter. That’s $9.66/gallon (tax included).

It’s only up 34% since orange dumbfuck had to “prove” he didn’t have a small peepee.

With ethanol E85? I don’t think so. It used to be heavily subsidized, and made sense for the consumer… but now it’s about the same price as 95 octane with 10% ethanol. It doesn’t make sense when it’s less energy dense. You burn an extra 15-20% in volume compared to “regular” gasoline.
