Great article, a nice short summary about the history of Intel.
One minor thing though:
Robert Noyce, who invented the microchip;
Co-invented, Jack Kilby is also recognized as inventor of the microchip, and Texas Instruments and Intel had a long legal battle about who should own the patent.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_KilbyIn a statement, Intel spokesman Cory Pforzheimer said Mr. Tan “has moved quickly to shape a new Intel and advance America’s leadership in technology and manufacturing.
I know it’s just a PR statement from Intel, but it’s a bit steep IMO.
AFAIK Mr Tan has mostly fired people and closed projects, I’m not sure if he has really “advanced” anything, and America for sure doesn’t have leadership in manufacturing anymore. Such statements by Intel just makes them look stupid and out of touch with reality.Paywall
Edit:
Thanks for the archive link. 👍My country never gets paywalls for NYT, so I can’t tell if a NYT article is paywalled or not. Let me add an archive link.
That would be nice. 😀
