I think dolphin (the KDE default) can pretty much do everything including dual pane these days

Feyd@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•7 years later, Valve's Proton has been an incredible game-changer for LinuxEnglish4·3 days agoI haven’t booted windows in like 6 months and I game on my desktop PC like 4 times a week.
Edit: also https://www.protondb.com/ distinguishes reports between steam deck and PC so you can see that people are using both there as well.
This is my exact experience with a lot of things. I just skimmed through the first party documentation for $thing and it pays huge dividends over time when compared to trying to learn from the relatively context-sparse stack overflow or chatbot
I don’t know if you mean you don’t remember the gist even, but it’s more about learning about what’s possible with what so you can look up specifics when you need them than remembering the contents wholesale
If it wasn’t clear, I meant to do something with each function in some test code and understand it… Not just type it in…
What you see is the natural conclusion when one understands what llms can do at a core level without attributing any magic to it.
That’s one thing that drives me nuts. When people say they use ai to write emails I imagine that means they’re putting out overly long and empty content. When they say they use ai to summarize emails that means the people writing them are doing the same, or that the reader is too lazy and disrespectful to just read something. Completely absurd
Unironically my advice to people asking how to get started programming (at a c++ shop) included going through everything on cppreference.com and using every function in a playground at least once.

If they truly believed Democratic socialist policies had no legs, they’d leave him alone and watch him fail as an example.
I sincerely believe that none of these are losing. In fact I suspect in the future the current “winning” sides will be viewed as inexplicable barbarism, the same way that making sacrifices for good harvests would be viewed today.

Feyd@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•Why LLMs can't really build softwareEnglish1·9 days agoThe problem is that you don’t realize that writing code that is difficult to maintain is in fact not a sign of intelligence, or “power level”.
Feyd@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•Why LLMs can't really build softwareEnglish1·9 days agoBefore LLMs people were often saying this about people smarter than the rest of the group. “Yeah he was too smart and overengineered solutions that no one could understand after he left,”.
This part.

I wouldn’t say that’s totally fair. Just like proton with games, wine keeps getting better, and full support is really a case by case basis.
