Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the funniest reason youve ever unmatched someone/been unmatched on a dating app?
5·18 days agoThe landfill bit strikes me as unlikely. Almost nothing on butchered animals goes to waste these days, getting rendered into glue seems more likely a date than landfill in my mind. I am open to the possibility im wrong, but would take a lot of evidence.

Games@lemmy.world•What game do you personally have the most hours played in?English
2·6 months agoDepends how we’re counting. Actively playing is probably WoW, but I have so many hours in Factorio, as i would just leave it running overnight. Had a server up for friends also, so probably have close to 1k hours of the game being open, but definitely feel like i wasn’t actively playing as much as WoW. Just to how many years i put into playing WoW.

Technology@lemmy.world•'Windmill': China tests world’s first megawatt-level airship to capture high windsEnglish
4·1 year agoCities are going to start looking like San Fransokyo (Big Hero 6) soon. Seems like an excellent idea though. If it really gets pursued, I wonder how it will interact with air travel, since I would imagine you would need no fly zones around these, at least at a certain height.

99% invisible had a series about this, though I don’t remember any names of the episodes. Was essentially reviewing a book about a single lobbyist’s efforts in the 50s to make the car industry unassailable. The particular lobbyist got his way, and it would often destroy giant parts of every city that had any sort of size of black neighborhoods. Dude was essentially the architect of the way most of america thinks about travel now.
After a short google Robert Moses was the dude’s name.
