reddit went downhill as soon as they went public and capitulated to MUSK and by extension right wingers, because spez is so in love with him.
alot of people originally were fighting politcal posts on thier subs from being posted, after the musk purges, they all allow it now, for the ones that dont strictly block politics.
i was part of the 1st AI usage of banning. yup once you get a temp ban all your accounts will get ban automatically, regardless if its lifted or not for the original ban. and then i started hearing people were getting shadowban for no reason at all. i still visit the shadowban sub.
and most of the bans and denials are done by AI, so an admin many never see your appeals. and they mostly ignore most shadowban appeals anyways. this is recently(since February)development. i think they were testing out thier AI moderation tools, and it was banning an excessive amount of people.
they were asking for admins right around the time i joined lemmy, after a reddit purge.
admins actually, they said alot of them burned out and left lemme and they cant find enough.
reddit was doing multi-account bans retroactively which was pretty much very rare unheard of. basically any old accounts that participated in the sub years ago were instantly ban if any of your other accounts were subreddit banned.
on another forum they discuss how to do it on reddit still, you do have to pay up for services used to evade bans(PROXIES, anti-detection browsers, phones, accounts). i havnt checked it for other sites. i dont know if fediverse has it.
