  • Could be along the same lines as my fructan sensitivity. Corn is high in sorbitol which some can have intolerances or sensitivity to. Some people can get away with a small serving and certain processed forms, while others have to avoid it altogether. I think it’s one of the few FODMAP antagonists that doesn’t have an enzyme yet 🥲 Could also be something totally different! They would also potentially be sensitive to peaches, apricots or other foods with pits or seeds in them if it was a sorbitol sensitivity.

  • Fructan sensitivity 🥲 I appreciate the flavor they add, buuut don’t appreciate how they digest in my body. I carry food enzymes with me when I’m out though- kind of hard to avoid when I’m not the one cooking. I do want to try adding them to my oil infusions sometime!

  • No amount of alcohol is good for you, and considering the things that are ‘good’ for you can potentially be bad for you (e.g. supply chains making things cheaper for profit without regards to public health), it’s not really worth whatever you’re getting out of it (imo). Sure, it can be reasonable to think it can be fun or different on occasion, but there’s alternatives that are far less destructive to your overall well-being. By less risky I’m not even refering to long-term damage…I mean the potential that someone’s light or moderate relationship with alcohol can, in a single night, pivot and destroy their life or the life of another. That can obviously be applied to literally anything, but again, there’s no amount of alcohol that’s good for you.

Want a head change? Eat a CBD gummy or try some different teas- there’s plenty that can mellow you out the are far less impactful or risky to your health- chamomile, peppermint, kava, damiana, etc (though even some of those can damage your liver long-term).

Ultimately, everyone gets to decide what is worth the risk to them - red meat, lunch meats, preservates in literally everything, pickled things, too much sugar, trans fats, too much screen time, etc. Kind of comes down to the individual to decide what’s worth it. I’d rather enjoy a yummy treat a few times a week over nuking my body with alcohol every now and again.

  • Cannabis is so much more than just THC and CBD. There’s hundreds of different compounds- terpenes and flavonoids alone completely change how one strain or sample affects an individual. It’s honestly a travesty that it’s been demonized and locked away from real research.

For decades I’ve managed so many aspects of my health through very intentional dosing. I know the dominant terpene profiles I have the most success with along with the different THC:CBD ratios. Unfortunately, I had to give up something that worked perfectly for me as I have no income and insurance obviously won’t cover cannabis. It’s so demoralizing being back on prescribed drugs that not only don’t feel good or work as well with my mind and body, but can literally kill me if I take too much or stop incorrectly.

  • Maybe you need to make the experience better? I saw that you have a water bottle, but I personally find drinking straight from a bottle or canteen less enjoyable. What has helped me was making it more a ‘ritual.’ I have a cute stainless steel canteen, and when I’m at home I also have a nice glass. Pouring water into a glass cup and drinking from there just feels nicer. I use a specialty glass that’s more designed for drinking coffee, and it makes the water feel so much smoother and overall more enjoyable.

Cleaning a little glass cup is also easier than washing a canteen or bottle.
