We consider bluesky as part of fediverse?
We consider bluesky as part of fediverse?
I swear I have seen this “free speech instance” nonsense at least 3 or 4 times before this in the last month. All with similar combination of words. This is probably a same troll.
Apparently Photon also has that option.
A lot of clients filter out the 2nd, 3rd… instance of crossposted posts in their main feeds
Which client does that?
I will say two things,
George Takei is active of mastodon. There are many journalists and scientists. Tons of developers. A few small celebs. Also, many people I don’t want to be here are not here. That’s a plus for me.
MySpace is so old that I don’t know what it looks like.
Wow, reddit migration killed kbin? Did all of them just flocked to a single server?
set up a monthly contribution even if it’s just $2/month
I remember somewhere on the fedi, some instance admin saying that on average it cost $2/month per user. So, if you are relatively active on the server, $2 monthly recurring donation might cover your share of expenses. maybe not a very good idea
how I can make a difference

All fedi network = Mastodon, Threads, BlueSky, Nostr
Because, lemmy, misskey, pixelfed, mbin, friendica etc are not part of fedi network
Yes, that is correct. Although, calling it a flaw was a bit wrong on my part. It us by design. Paraphrasing someone on the internet: activitypub federation is pull rather than push. The downside of this is, some info will never reach you. The upside is: self hosting activitypub software is possible even with limited resources.
Don’t know
That is a flaw in activitypub. The federation makes it look like you are the only one following that account because that’s the only information your home instance can gather from the network. As they post new stuff you will see them. Give it some time for your server to federate with their server and you will probably see more details like their profile picture
That sound like a bug in the app
What they are doing is essentially promotion. So that, or something along the line is more appropriate.
The thing that I hate about the bridge is that, I need to separately bridge my account with bluesky to interact with a bluesky account bridged to fediverse.
I don’t know if you know about it, but there’s this new community !growthefediverse@slrpnk.net They got some nice discussion about how to on-board more people on here.
With so many examples like twitter, reddit, Factbook, whatsapp, instagram etc. can you really blame us for not liking centralized services? Also, I don’t hate all centralized services. I love Wikipedia, Openstreetmap.org etc. Also, the outage of OSM earlier proves that single point of failure is a reason for concern.
Then that particular build of the distro is closed source. The linux kernel is still open source.
I see that I forgot to add a question mark and incurred the wrath of some very opinionated lemmy users.
