Personally I love PBS/NPR (both National and my local station; support your local station!), The Verge, TWiT/This Week in Tech, Daily Tech News Show, Democracy Now!, C4 News, and Web3 is Going Great.

I hope it’s implemented better than Facebook’s version with the ability to see other Fediverse posts in Tumblr and follow right from the app. I always liked Misskey/Starkey because I felt it was the next generation of Tumblr but it would be great to see more Misskey posters in Tumblr.

hm, raddle.me / postmill looks promising though. is it federated at all? i haven’t dived into the code enough yet but i’d love it as an alternative.

it’s complaints about the developer (which are valid) who also runs lemmy.ml.

i wonder if a geocities or ezboard style could work

well most of the time - at least for me - they’re just there for the rest of the family so if you can get the rest of the family on there and then maybe let them invite their friends, that’s all they really need

if you’re capable and have a server, i recommend spinning up pixelfed and friendica instances for your parents and families. they’re probably the simplest fediverse apps to install too.

it’s one thing for you to move, it’s another thing to be able to get your parents and family to move over.
