What’s the point of the formatting bar? Is it to help with markdown?

Yes, Mastodon glitch-soc is a fork that allows you to create posts in markdown, but its web interface does not have formatting bars (unlike Lemmy). So it is not easy to write a formatted post with links in the right place from your smartphone

@gon You may have heard of another app, Raccoon for Lemmy, which was made by the same developer.

I also use Raccoon for Friendica from my glitch-soc Mastodon instance, because it is the only Mastodon App that has a formatting bar
