This, weirdly, would suit my setup quite well: Linux mint for “fun” (gaming, DRM media) and FreeBSD for anything “serious” (work, hacking, etc.).

OTOH Fortnite isn’t anything I’m interested in, so 🤷‍♂️

These countries have had to make decisions on how to run themselves that would better the economy for their people, and it’s worked.

Undeniably, from an economic perspective. I don’t think there’s ever been a climb out of poverty as rapid as China’s?

The point I was making by quoting “Communism”, though, is that I believe they were successful only by abandoning Communist principles and practices. They kept the name and little else.

(a) Yes, but I’d still much rather my dividend money went to the US Govt than the Chinese Govt, even given everything that’s been happening for the past few years.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - Framework isn’t perfect, but it’s a damn site better than every single new hardware alternative I can find (unless an MNT is powerful enough for your daily driver, in which case, go for it!).

Lenovo ships spyware and is essentially owned by the Communist Party of China. Apple sent their CEO to give a gold plaque and a photo op to Trump.

Part of the reason the tech industry is so fucked right now is that the good people keep letting the perfect be the enemy of the good, which allows the bad people to keep tightening the ratchet the wrong way.
