Not trying to diminish this post, but I feel this is more of a “Bare metal ‘hello world’ in Swift” than a kernel.

That said, I am really curious to see what a more featureful kernel would look like in Swift, how drivers, etc. would look, and so on.

I’ve spent multiple years (and continue to) work in that exact setup; doing rebases with nested submodules can be tricky, but that’s a rare case. Also people pushing bad refs is annoying, but you can prevent that server-side or in your own Git config.

I’ve found submodules incredibly useful and have no issues with them. How has your experience been different?
