homeassistant@lemmy.world•ha-iroh: p2p Android app for Home Assistant, garage door from the power menu, no port forward / VPN / cloudEnglish
2·11 days agoCool! I’ll try this. bout the garage door, I’d like to tell you how I do it: a car tracker (Teltonika FMB120 for about 45€), a small push button under the steering wheel, when I push it, it does a curl request to my Node Red instance that, based on the car location, opens the gate of my home, or office or parents. Bonus: the FMB120 can connect to the CAN bus and you can get some telemetry and you can also always locate your car (I use Traccar). It does need a data SIM card, but with 1NCE, you can get one that lasts 10 years and it only costs 10€ (not per month, not per year, for the whole 10 years.)

Open Source@lemmy.ml•I don't know why but it pissed me off so much that they called gimp "freeware"
0·2 years agoWhat kind of attitude?
the source code for freeware is typically not made available
Typically it different than never. It means that sometimes the source code is made available and is the case of FOSS.>

Open Source@lemmy.ml•I don't know why but it pissed me off so much that they called gimp "freeware"
0·2 years agoUnlike with free and open-source software, which are also often distributed free of charge, the source code for freeware is typically not made available.
It clearly says “typically”, which includes the software that does open source the code.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•draw.io no longer open source since August 27, 2024
0·2 years agoOpen source means that the source code is…open, that everyone can view and use it, it doesn’t mean that everyone can contribute to it. Or am I wrong?

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Bountysource Stole at Least $21,000 From Open Source Developers
0·2 years agoI didn’t and it doesn’t matter because you wrote it under this article and so it’s related to it. I’m not saying that it’s not true, but it can’t be related to this fact.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Bountysource Stole at Least $21,000 From Open Source Developers
0·2 years agoI don’t like the comment “this is why people say the open source ecosystem sucks” because a bankruptcy of a company has nothing to do with the concept of open source.

Mah, mi sembra che già sia così.
