Always a good idea. I’ll reach out to them.
It’s less about news and more about advocacy.
One strategy that I’d like to specifically promote is fediverse users calling attention to spaces of the internet where people are talking about the fediverse but there’s relatively few users there that can share their experience.
To that end I’ve been considering things like:
Keep in mind that whatever name we pick will also be the hashtag that the Mastodon contingent of this project will end up using. As it stands, they would see posts from this community under #growthefediverse
In my mind. Bluesky is good enough. I’m frequently talking with people through the bridge without realizing it.
But Pixelfed just isn’t a thing most people know about it seems.
You’d be surprised. I’ve had several people reach out unprompted and specifically ask about it
Loops and sup started as upgrades to pixelfed and then got spun off.
It’s not really a whatsapp alternative. More like a facebook messenger alternative. It replaces and encrypts dms from mastodon, pixelfed, lemmy, etc
Totally did. I’ll work on that
That community seems to be about growing communities. Whereas, this community is about migrating people from legacy social.
It started out as a major upgrade to Pixelfed’s dm system and got spun off into it’s own thing, same as Loops.
Folks if you still have legacy social, agitation over there is doing rounds right now. Unfortunately, there’s significantly fewer of us working to get people onboarded than thee last migration. If you still have those accounts, please consider plugging fedi.
I think they actually just put out a fresh teaser post about it.
I feel there are lots but they’re all out of date since they’re from the last migration.
Doing more fedi posting on reddit. If you’re on reddit and don’t mind being a fediverse evangelist, please go hit this thread:
Yeah well maybe they should come here.
That’s the idea!
“just go on lemmy brah”
This works. Please do so politely.
Fedi observer does something like this.
My personal view on this is Dansup absolutely suffers from the instinct of not open sourcing stuff until it’s fairly late in the stage of being an MVP, but I think that’s largely because he’s learning these technologies as he goes and is afraid of criticism on that front. Personally, however, I do not think it is the case that he does not believe in the Open Source project. I also trust him when he says he’s working towards a nonprofit to distribute the load. It seems his first steps are to get funding via kickstarter to quit his job, and then I imagine organizing a nonprofit structure is next.
Generally, I don’t believe it’s actually an issue with complication. There’s just a resistance to change. That said there’s still significant onus on those invested in the fediverse to make sure It Just Workstm

Folks should also check out neodb.social . it’s good reads, letterboxd, and steam reviews all in one.
