I use Tuta but unfortunately I cannot recommend it for a few reasons:

1. They use a proprietary encryption algorithm so you can only a) encrypt emails going to other Tuta accounts and b) use their clients (no Thunderbird etc.)
2. They’re glacially slow with feature developments. Case in point email import has been on their list since forever and they only came out with it last year, but it’s still in beta and exclusive to highest subscription tier.
3. I don’t find their client very user-friendly.

The new platform, W, will require identification and photo validation to ensure that its users are both humans and who they claim to be.

Anonymity on the web is at risk on multiple fronts (age verification mandates and discussions around banning VPNs come to mind) so this is probably not a good thing, but I can see the value in such a social network as long it’s complementary to the anonymous platforms we have today. Perhaps the closest thing to it we have today is LinkedIn.

It looks like we’re getting decent options now? Like the Clicks one is designed in cooperation with a former Blackberry designer. From what I see on Reddit, BB Key2 from 2018 was the last good option in this space, so I understand the excitement.
