It’s a different approach based on age, too - the parental controls Apple provides are great for a toddler on an iPad, and may even work into elementary school… but not forever. You can’t hide kids from reality, no matter what you take away. I knew too much and more by age 8 and we didn’t even have the internet. When our son gets to be 6 or 7 we’ll probably have to start explaining the concept of porn and online bad actors, and that’s depressing, but it’s the world we live in.
I don’t think it’s meant to be a permanent wall, that plant wouldn’t survive there, those books might be fake? I think it’s a lobby right, weren’t these backdrops all created from lobby spaces in the spaceship? So they quickly dressed it up, or rendered it in place. ADA prefers them to doorknobs. Back in the day when hardware conventions started, it was to show that a place was free to walk into without a barrier, i.e. open to the public. It’s crucially important to raise kids with an understanding of whole food and its importance. You can’t keep them from processed food, but you can make it clear it’s a sometimes choice. Once they’re an adult and start to care about their health, they can build on the whole food foundation you gave them.

Small groups, private groups like Discord are definitely replacing social media. Which is good because they’re smaller circles and can just be people you know IRL. Discord’s interface sucks on mobile, yeah. I wish there was a better alternative, something that is, on the surface, simple to use like WhatsApp but featured and powerful as well, so non-gamers and older folks would adopt it faster.

Waking dreams/nightmares are the weirdest and worse, you think you’ve woken up from a nightmare and then more bad shit happens or the nightmare was real, and then you wake up again, but for real… or sometimes it keeps going for a few cycles. Like everything else about dreaming they have no idea why it happens but it can be terrifying.
Why is it OK for nature to do this, but not us?
And if it’s only OK for God to do, why did God let us develop the technology to do it? In fact it could be argued all science is divinely inspired - the Catholics believe this for instance - so this is God’s plan for us.
