Today’s game is Breath of The Wild, on the 3DS. I saw someone post a link online somewhere, and despite years of experience handling cyber security on a personal level, there was a little voice in my head that was saying “Just a peak. You’ll know it’s probably safe it’s a .CIA file”. Turns out. It was safe. And it’s beautiful in a “This looks like shit but is genuinely impressive” kind of way.

I ended up breaking out of the Great Plateu which you can’t do in the og I think. I took a stroll on down towards Zora’s domain to see if there’s anything there. As I went on things got trippy fast.

The most interesting part was that Water? It was gone. It was actually kind of cool to see what I assume is the land under the water since I think it was a import of the official map. It was cool to run around down there.

As I was walking I noticed this tower in the distance looming over me. I didn’t think there would be one. All the map is visible so why would I need a tower? If I wasn’t short on time I would have gone over there to see what’s up with it.

Eventually though, after nearly 40 Minutes of walking and climbing and dramatically sliding down empty rivers, I reached Zora’s Domain. Or, what’s left of it. It was genuinely unsettling in a way to be in a place that normally feels so populated but has vanished off the map. It’s like the rapture came and took not just the people but the building and water too.
I explored around for a bit to see if maybe it just needed a bit too load in but couldn’t seem to get it to load in. So i left it. I want to go see that tower next but 40 minutes was all the time I could spare on this. I’m hoping whoever is developing this updates it because it’s genuinely very cool.
Question, why were you concerned by the file from a security standpoint? All this time I’ve personally only heard of one exploit in a legacy n64 emulator where a rom could actually execute code outside the emulator
Just better to be cautious I’ve found, Especially with me.
… How the fuck? This shit barely hits 30 fps on the switch lol
It’s not running on actual 3DS hardware.
pretty sure its just a model exploring a mostly static map. xenoblade was ported in full to it, iirc. and on that note, i wonder of this port is expected to be ran on a n3ds, like the snes emulators?
Wow that’s really cool! I kind of regret selling my new 3ds a few years ago.
You should! You coulda sold it to ME instead!!
wow, i had no idea this existed.
I am blown away it runs at all. Amazing!
I should have hooked it up to my actual 3DS instead of an emulator. See what the performance is like on there
If you do, would love to see how it goes!
I was going to do it today but couldn’t find my charger. It sucks because I was really looking forward to trying it on native hardware
No worries, we can wait! 😀
I recently saw on YouTube that someone is working on Twilight Princess 3D and Ocarina of Time DS which also sound really interesting
Damn. Twilight Princess 3D sounds genuinely amazing. Ocarina of Time DS sounds fascinating too, though it feels a little less impressive compared to the other. Still really amazing though
