Behind closed doors, very little of this went over well with the stateās other Republican Party bigwigs, many of whom were furious at Ramaswamy for doing something that could imperil the elections of others on the Ohio GOP ticket
Yeah, they didnāt care about the ad, just that it could drag them down with him.
āYou idiot! Empathy is still polling too high!ā
Fuck this asshole.
Later babe, we are talking politics.
Sure thing! But then what are we gonna do about Vivek?
Who could have possibly foreseen that victim blaming an abused 9-12 year old could backfireā¦
And zero remorse. They only care that about the effect it had on themselves.
But you know who genuinely canāt see it backfiring? Absolute sociopaths.
This is what you get when all of your thoughts and actions are driven by greed and hate.
Weird. I thought Rape apologia was the GOPās bread and butter.
So on brand for the republican party. Itās the outcome they are unhappy with, not their decisions.
Yeah too little too late, it was a move someone who knows theyāre losing pulls and instead of being classy he did a low thing that made his opponent look way more sympathetic and her mom look so much worse with the slightest investigation, and ties the Republican party more and more with defending rapist pedophiles.
Donāt you worry! Theyāll have forgotten all about this come next election cycle
Thinking is energy intensive and a hard thing to do, it is much easier to forget and not think about it, be it the richest person or the poorest person who make short term decisions that fuck everyone around them over, itās just a matter of scale.
Ramaswamyās ad may have ensured a Democrat wins the Senate.
Only if those voters care enough to go out and vote.
Iāve already voted.
Me too! Not in ohio though.
of course, judging by your username you must be registered in Dor Daedeloth
Nope. Angband
I think you overestimate Ohioans, especially as horribly germmandered as it illegally is.
especially as horribly germmandered as it illegally is.
Weāre talking about a US Senate seat here. Gerrymandering has no effect.
Iām sure thereās a School House Rock episode that would explain this better than I can, but the short of it is this: Each state in the USA, no matter how big or small, gets TWO US Senators they send to Washington to represent them in the Senate, no more, no less. Both of the US Senators represent all residents of the state. Every 6 years (the length of term of a Senator), all residents in the entire state vote in that US Senatorial election.
You may be instead thinking about races in the US House of Representatives where there are Congressional districts carving up the geography inside a state. Thereās no such concept for the US Senators each state sends to Washington.
state legislatures set the rules by which their state votes. they do have an affect on āstatewideā elections. so yea, gerrymandering matters here, too.
Can you give an example of a rule youāre thinking of that a gerrymandered state legislature has made that will have a material effect on the outcome of the stateās US Senate race, or even more specifically on Ohioās which is where this conversation started?
I get what youāre saying but one could be putting more polling places in heavier R areas and then less in D areas making the lines longer and harder to vote.
Thatās the secretary of state tho, not the legislature. Valid point tho, just being a pedant
I donāt know what state you live in, but thats how it works in mine.
In mine, each county has a County Board of Elections which determine the number and location of polling places. Those County Board of Elections members are appointed by our Secretary of State. The Secretary of State is an elected position by all voters in the state.
So again, Gerrymandering would have zero effect on location or number of polling places in my state.
How does it work in your state where youāre seeing Gerrymandering could affect the number or location of polling places?
Iām betting most of the red ones also rape their kids
āOur numbers cratered, everyone screamed at us, I donāt want to ever repeat anything like this again,ā a Ramaswamy ally says. āWe could not escape it.ā

Well well well, if it isnāt the consequences of my own actionsā¦
These republicans need to quit their whining this is what they want, they want to defend the rapests and pedos.
You donāt want to elect a guy who doesnāt stand by what he said or did, do you?
Heās shown himself to be a paragon of Republican values, I donāt know what all the fuss is about. Supporting and spreading the lies of pedo rapists is what this administration is all about.
Had heard Donnie on an interview the other day bragging about how great an idea it was and how he wished he had something like that to run.
Cruel and calous is on brand but apparently so is an unter lack of any ability for reading the room. Nobody with an ounce of sense told him this was a good idea.
He fucked aroundā¦
Hopefully the middle of next week heāll be firmly in āfind outā territory.
It would be amazing if this blows back on the entire party and is the straw on the camel that pushes Dems over the line.
(my bold)
It took 10 long, brutal days, but it appears that Ohioās GOP gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy is crying uncle: His campaign will stop airing his ārapist protector momā ad.
How on earth could he have ever thought that was a good idea omg š
