Meanwhile here in Canada, medical data is happily stored on Microsoft cloud services

What’s the word that could happen?

Software should run on computers that belong to the government and that are located within the country, should be auditable (source-code) and data should stay within borders all the time with proper access controls.

Many people struggle to comprehend this. For them, it is all magic and fairy tales. The truth is that they are ceding control to others. Education on this matter is lacking.

    🎷 Ba-dum bum bum

    Don’t entrust your data
    to a massive corporation.
They don’t care about your people,
They don’t care about your nation!

They’ll sell you for a song,
    it never takes too long,

    Don’t give your data away.
    Don’t! Give your data! A-waaaaaaay!

That’s why France is serious about removing Microsoft and other US companies from any public systems. The entire EU should follow. I find it nice that Microsoft is also helping with ads, like here for Netherlands.
