Typescript calls it never, and IMO never makes the most sense here for how it’s typically used. “Bottom” or “uninhabited” is quite academic, and “bottom” has a sexual connotation for a lot of people, so it’d be a distracting source of memes - perhaps funny for a while, but I’m kind of glad they didn’t go with it.

I’d be interested to hear how the update was actually put in place. They must have an OTA update mechanism which sounds super interesting.

This is good to know and wish I knew this before getting a XiaoMi. Nobody at all should buy a XiaoMi phone, their stock OS is just complete spyware, and unlocking it is nearly impossible.

Eh I don’t like this idea. example.com is explicitly set aside as a dummy domain, making it (somewhat) part of the infrastructure of the Internet. Handing control over to a private entity is never a good idea IMO, especially if it’s making them commercial money.

Chalk (JS) maintainer here. Never felt right about the hyperlink escapes as they feel like a kludge, and javascript: scheme should be deprecated and removed - constant source of XSS and has little to no benefit these days. This doesn’t surprise me at all. Great writeup!

Meh. Not a huge fan of a lot of this. It feels like they’re trying to make Rust behave more like Java.
