It would be neat if the project also spoke out against GenAI as a whole. Regardless of policy, a notice stating that the project condemns GenAI is always nice. :3

In my views, “slop” is something soulless, and is not quite a reflection of quality.
I agree that we shouldn’t fight against it by saying its output is bad quality; we should fight against it by saying it’s soulless, and because of all of the negative externalities. It is, in its essence, a machine which devalues humanity and erodes our bonds with one-another.
Though, I do think we should bluntly reject the tech. We should definitely talk to people and have empathy, we should definitely be kind. The whole reason I am anti-GenAI is because I am pro-people, so of course we should be! But I do not think we should accept GenAI in any way.
That it will keep growing is a decision we as a society have to make, and I feel we should push that decision towards “no, we don’t want it, and it should go away”.

I disagree, I feel we should use the term slop for anything that GenAI has touched, be it code, visual art, writing or whatever else. GenAI is very unethical and I don’t think we should accept its existence. GenAI as a whole, for any use, should be objected to.

That LLMs have been finding bugs is more so an effect of the tech industry not taking security seriously than them being amazing at it. It also doesn’t hurt that GenAI companies are pumping millions into making their models look as amazing as possible. If you hire a team of pentesters for a few million bucks, I’m sure you’ll get way more (both quality and quantity) than whatever the LLMs regurgitated.
If planet-burning slop machines are what it takes for the tech industry to start taking security seriously… heh. Though, that being said, throwing slop-machines at it doesn’t mean they’re taking it seriously, so I don’t even think it had that effect. Either way, all we can do is object to this extremely unethical technology.

It is so important to realize this, so that we can get together with other affected professions. Together, we are much stronger, and we have a much better chance of pushing back GenAI.
