No, these are two different units (like miles and nautical miles), not just a technicality. 1 PB isn’t “technically” 1 PiB. If it was, there wouldn’t be two distinct definitions.

I am speaking about hard drive space! How clearer can I be? That chart is in bytes. That means 1 Petabyte is a million Gigabytes.

The manufacturers of hard drives are usually using the decimal version. Operating systems often use the binary version without properly indicating that, i.e. they falsely use MB, GB, TB while actually meaning MiB, GiB or TiB, respectively.
On KDE you can choose whether the decimal or the binary units should be used and the information is displayed correctly, i.e. in TB if the decimal unit is chosen and TiB in case of the binary unit.

A simple google search tells you my title is right in the decimal base-10 system. There is no need trying to explain every detail.

It has nothing to do with countries. Maybe listen to the people that haven’t just learned about how storage units work.

1TB Decimal (Base 10): Exactly 1,000,000 GB (1,000 terabytes multiplied by 1,000 gigabytes).

TB is always decimal. TB is a standard unit. 1 TB is, like you said, exactly 1,000,000 GB.

You are confusing TB with TiB. TiB is never decimal, always binary. They are different units, and they mean different sizes. 1 TiB is exactly 1,048,576 GiB.

1 TiB is 1,099.512 GB. 1 TiB is 1.0995 TB.
