The obsession with pedos has long struck me as an excuse to generate violence against a target group by naming them as the most unambiguously vile people. It’s the core of blood libel, pizza gate, anti-drag laws, etc. I don’t think the turnaround of “you know who the real pedos are?” is all that effective. I think we need a revulsion to vigilantism that is even stronger than revulsion to any crime, so claims of crime or harm cannot be used to lend support to vigilante violence.
They used to be able to do it with gay people and be lauded by the public and had indifference to their violence by governments. They’ve just moved groups, same shitty people.
Most “paedophile hunters” are in fact paedophiles. They love to project.
Knew some people like that, they liked to talk about how there are some “good ones”, who save young girls from poverty, and even marry them later on. Also they really were jealous of young boys who were molested by hot women, and did not bother pursuing their case.

Anecdotal evidence based on past witch hunts by the right like gay panic, adultery/porn problems - panic based mobs are haunted by the people they hunt.
I believe the research suggests that homophobes (to give one example) are no more likely to be homosexual than the average population. … though not much less either.
Just because some are projecting doesn’t mean all/most of them are.

Normal people without the expertise don’t go around playing vigilante.
I get it if their close relative or friend was abused/murdered and then they go on to enact their vengence against criminals, but normal people aren’t gonna have the motivation to do it, especislly not hanging out in online chatrooms with creepy unsettling vibes, like how the f would you even sleep at night, I got creeped out reading at SCP, how do you hang out in a pedo chatroom regularly and not feel disgusted by it? The only people I can think of that would voluntarily “hunt pedofiles” are those that are comfortable with being around pedophiles (like hanging out in those chatrooms), and I suspect many of these are probably pedophiles themselves.
My point is: unless you are law enforcement, a trained private investigator, know someone close that was abused/murdered, or otherwise authorized by an authority to do such investigations; everyone else doing “pedophile hunting” is likely a pedophila themselves.
