You can call the projects all sorts of things, directionless, messy, bad, underwhelming

But fascist? Come on, not everything that you dislike = fascism

Fascism is not good, but less use the term accurately

For the past half hour I tried to read into what’s happened, and who the supposed fascists are, and these are the facts I managed to uncover. I hope it will serve anyone who reads this well:

      1. Communities are gonna drama.
      2. Moderating is hard and (paraphrasing Douglas Adams) anyone who wants to do it, shouldn’t be allowed to.
      3. I really don’t care enough to waste more time on this.

      use the term accurately

We have a lack of words used in the English language that specifies graduations and grades of arseholes.

Just like some languages have one word for snow, and others have dozens

Just makes it sound like whoever wrote this is projecting, considering what the NixOS project is actually facing.

No it’s not. It is currently facing fascism. But the story is being written as we speak. Is it going to succumb to it? Or fight and prevail? We don’t know… Stay tuned for the next episode, we’re going to find out in about 2 months.

It is currently being threatened, yes.

Edit: Leadership is now going to make the decision whether they like the arms industry or not. And that’s going to be reflected in the vote in a few weeks.

I don’t understand how someone concludes that working for them translates to being a fascist. I understand not wanting to support it but calling them a fascist seems dumb.

New #nixos board observer candidate (https://github.com/NixOS/foundation/pull/133), working for a US autonomous weapon company and paid by Thiel dollars, casually complaining that a proposal empowers minorities too much.

Edit Oh you have to expand entries that just has: NixOS, uspol
To see the actual post. Weird format?

But it would have been nice if you had pointed to something a bit more comprehensive, or at least made a summary of what the claim is based on.

XLibre claiming to be apolitical is hilarious when their readme sounds like it’s written by a MAGAt. Never touching that project that’s for sure.

Also pretty sure that stuff about the founder is bs, unless you can back that up with a source. From my understanding he ended up stepping down because he was already putting more attention into determinate nix, which was causing friction.

Could you define the words “fascist” and “communist” as you understand them?

Practically speaking all open source software is communist, insofar as the capital, which in the case of software would be the source code and the means to build and deploy it, is available to anyone with the wherewithal to use it.
