Everyone trying to do Australian accents ever.

I’d argue that Kendra was far worse!
First off, no accent in the Buffyverse is worse than Angelus’ Irish.
I’m starting to think Buffy had some terrible accent choices cause my God you’re right about that one too!

Just did a rewatch of the series not too long ago. Every time she was on screen I just felt the cringe build knowing her lines were going to be brutal to listen to.
Excep for how to pronounce poof
There was an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger where Chuck Norris went undercover as a Mexican migrant worker. He made no attempt at an accent whatsoever, speaking in his normal voice. They also put him in brown face.
That was pretty bad.
Karl Urban as Butcher in The Boys, excruciating. they changed so many other characters around (including making Wee Hughie a six foot yank), should have just let him be a kiwi
Is he not a Kiwi in the show?
you know what, you made me doubt myself here so i had a quick search and found various opinions including that the accent is shit on purpose as some kind of satire. thankfully this is bollocks:

How did you arrive at Billy’s cockney accent?
It’s kind of the perfect storm because you have a British character, played by a New Zealand actor, written by American writers and in the first season I had a Canadian dialect coach. At the end of the first season I identified that there was certain elements of authenticity that could be improved, so I brought in Andrew Jack, who was one of the foremost, world-class dialogue coaches. I had first worked with him 20 years ago on Lord of the Rings. He came in and we significantly improved the specificity of the dialect and he was able to contribute more colloquialisms to give that character more authenticity and I was super excited about where we were going to go, but really tragically he was one of the first victims of the pandemic, he was working on The Batman and he passed
far be it from me to speak ill of the dead but it did not work
Karl Urban was in lotr? Huh.
Dick van dyke in Mary poppins is the gold stsndard
But don’t forget My Cocaine in several of his movies butchering an American accent. I think it’s hilatious that the two of them sort of mirror each other so perfectly in that regard. :)
Both from 30 Rock and it’s a tie between Elizabeth Banks’ Maryland accent and Julianne Moore’s Boston accent. To be fair, they were both intended to be terrible.
For ones that aren’t intentional, I wish they’d have just had Melanie Liburd’s character be British in Dark Matter because it would not have made any difference to her character’s backstory at all. She does okay with the future space Canadian accent but it slips constantly.
Jessica Parker Kennedy’s crappy French accent on Black Sails. It was excruciating to listen to every time she opened her mouth.
I didn’t even notice the accent, I just heard angels singing every time she was on screen
most of the actors in Narcos, they spoke Spanish alright, but not Colombian or even paisa. Wagner Moura’s efforts are worth mentioning, his Spanish was pretty decent in the last episodes.
Daphne from Frasier
“I can tell from your accent you come from Manchester”
? But music hall cockney is supposed to be London…?
The Beatles come from Liverpool, that’s basically just down the road.
99.9% of Jamaican patois, including Apex Legends (ok, not a film but had to mention). One surprising exception: Brad Pitt in Meeting Joe Black - embarrassing yes, but surprising.
I don’t know if it’s the worst I’ve ever heard, but Ted Lasso sounds like Foghorn Leghorn which is not really how anybody talks
We literally have a US Senator that sounds even more cartoonish (John Kennedy of Louisiana).
Unfortunately, there really are people who talk even stupider than Ted Lasso in the US south.
You’re missing the point entirely. I didn’t say the accent was stupid - it is inaccurate.
I love how the rebuttal is “yes people do sound like that; and worse” and you’re asserting the respondent missed the point by directly addressing your earlier statement fully.
It would have to be a tie between Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse in True Blood or Julia Garner as Ruth in Ozark
There was a guy supposed to be from Newcastle on Castle. He was unintelligible to the main cast, and nothing like a newcastle accent at all.
