"Netanyahu sent his son to campaign for Orbán. Netanyahu sent a personal video to Orbán’s rally. Orbán just lost by 14 points, the biggest landslide in Hungarian democratic history.
Why did Netanyahu care so much?
Because Orbán was the only EU leader who vetoed sanctions on Israel. Every single time. That veto is gone. The ICC withdrawal is reversed. The EU firewall is dead.
Israel’s own Ynet News headline, two days ago: “If Orbán falls, Israel could lose its EU firewall.” He didn’t just fall. He was buried."

The Netherlands is also balls deep in the Israel lobby
See: Yesilğoz, a Turkish liberal politician who betrayed the Socialist Party to work for the corrupt, big company party (VVD), and now claims to be a minister, despite effectively calling Douwe Bob’s refusal to have a pro-Israeli concert, “a normalisation of Jew hatred”.
Fuck her, she’s not my minister. And when Douwe Bob got death threats due to HER words, she refused to cave in until the latest moment. Fuck that piss minister, bought by Israel’s genocidal lobby.
I hate her and I think she is actively enabling antisemitism and fascism. And she indeed is! She tried to proclaim that antifascism is a danger.
Fascists never tell you they become fascist. They start with declaring an enemy. And let us then make sure they will regret that, and reform to be good citizens.
She’s just as bad as Wilders.
Oh definitely, she’s an enabler. What we need to do, as leftists, is to look at WHAT the fascists are doing to win votes, and use their own tactics but tweaked for the left.
Now they just need to pay someone else. When a single veto is enough, that is not a high price.
What @CyberEgg@discuss.tchncs.de already said. Politico is only semi-credible as a source. They have a tendency to mix journalism with insider gossip and narrative framing. I often find their articles to be… politically convenient interpretations that look more solid than the underlying evidence really warrants.
Hopefully one of the smaller countries will have a non treasonous government that will veto it.

She, and many others, have wanted to change this rule for years. Ending the veto has pretty broad support within the EU. But actively pushing for it was pointless until now, because Orban’s Hungary would have, y’know, vetoed it.
Then I misunderstood.
👍
I unfortunately think there are many more both western and eastern countries that would veto this. It’s a bit paradoxical as the biggest reason to take it away (Orban) is gone. And no, our leaders cannot think beyond the four years of their mandates.
If there was an effort to change them before, Orban would have vetoed it
I think you forgot the /s
