Reading articles like this, it keeps striking me just how utterly unprepared the dominant western culture is for this shift. The need to curate these transcendental factors more explicitly is not something we really have the tools to do. Heck, a lot of our language itself is built upon materialist metaphors of financial exchange.

There’s a kernel of hope in there, in an accelerationist sense, that we can stop valuing the profane physicalism of “do a thing”, “make a thing” quite so highly, but I’m not hopeful.
