The whole website is one giant LLM slop page. Hell, the whole reason the “independent project” was made was because the developer(s?) got slighted over being told no LLM’s [1] in Asahi
“Gravity Linux and Asahi Linux are two independent projects working towards the shared goal of a strong, open OS ecosystem on Apple Silicon devices. Gravity Linux was initially forked from Asahi Linux over differences in policy, namely regarding LLM use. We have tremendous respect for the Asahi Linux project and emphasize our shared goal of running Linux on Apple Silicon.”

Yep. That’s sort of the point here.
Folks who embraced AI made more progress than those who refused it. That’s not really news. I am not advocating the distro.
The interesting questions are in the comparison, not the product.
Is it any good?
Does it work?
Can they build on it?
Who has the better result? Which invites definition of “better”.

Do the authors gain any experience from this?
Will if continue development in case they run out of “tokens”?

Do the authors gain any experience from this?
Do they need to?
Did they set this goal for themselves, or was their goal simply to build a Linux distro with support for specific hardware?
Will if continue development in case they run out of “tokens”?
Will Asahi continue development in case its leading developers quit the project?

You seem to ascribe an interpersonal conflict or emotional reaction/immaturity to the authors in a situation where there probably isn’t any.
“The whole reason” — what other reason do they need? Why is it not plausible that nobody was “slighted” over anything, but rather the developer(s) simply decided that they want to do $thing using LLMs, and so they just went and did it in a place where it doesn’t break anyone’s rules?

I do not consider “pro AI” folks to be capable of that level of emotional development.
Their behaviour on places like Hacker News validates this far more than any anecdote ever could
