• The whole website is one giant LLM slop page. Hell, the whole reason the “independent project” was made was because the developer(s?) got slighted over being told no LLM’s [1] in Asahi

“Gravity Linux and Asahi Linux are two independent projects working towards the shared goal of a strong, open OS ecosystem on Apple Silicon devices. Gravity Linux was initially forked from Asahi Linux over differences in policy, namely regarding LLM use. We have tremendous respect for the Asahi Linux project and emphasize our shared goal of running Linux on Apple Silicon.”

You seem to ascribe an interpersonal conflict or emotional reaction/immaturity to the authors in a situation where there probably isn’t any.

“The whole reason” — what other reason do they need? Why is it not plausible that nobody was “slighted” over anything, but rather the developer(s) simply decided that they want to do $thing using LLMs, and so they just went and did it in a place where it doesn’t break anyone’s rules?

      • Yep. That’s sort of the point here.

Folks who embraced AI made more progress than those who refused it. That’s not really news. I am not advocating the distro.

The interesting questions are in the comparison, not the product.

        Is it any good?

        Does it work?

        Can they build on it?

Who has the better result? Which invites definition of “better”.
